Even arriving by train is an experience. The station, lovingly attended by Station Master Trevor, is a delight, and a sure way of forgetting the frustrations of modern day rail travel. The station consistently one of the most colourful in the UK, and Trevor also provides a service to the traveler not often seen anywhere in the world. Frequent Scotrail services to Edinburgh take 35 minutes and Leuchars, the nearest station to St Andrews is just 45 minutes away |
| If old castles are your scene, then Aberdour's 14th Century castle will be of interest. Its walled gardens offer a sheltered haven whatever the weather. However, in the event of rain then a visit to the coffee shop is a must. It's a favourite with the villagers, and next to the 12th century church | ![]() |

Aberdour's 18 hole golf course runs down to the shore of the river Forth, providing spectacular views of the wildlife on the river and of the wonderful Inchcolm Island, complete with its 12th Century Abbey. For serious golfers, there are 45 golf courses in Fife, and Aberdour is within an hours drive of Gleneagles, Muirfield (home to The Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers), Carnoustie and, of course, the Mecca for all golfers, St Andrews. |
| The stunning scenery is not just limited to those playing golf. The coastline within the village boundaries include two European blue flagged safe beaches, separated by a cliffy headland with views across to Edinburgh and to the Forth Bridges. The harbour provides a safe haven for Aberdour Boat Club and their yachts, whatever the weather, and the cliffs above are a magnet for rock climbers. | ![]() |

For the very young, if it's just
sea and sand that's needed for an idyllic holiday, then the two beaches of
Silver-Sands and West sands provides all that is necessary; for the older
kids the rock pools and rocky scrambles offer adventure, while the water
based opportunities are as broad as you want to make them. And if your
horizons are broad, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Dunfermline are within easy
reach, and the coastal footpath runs straight through the village.
There is also something for everyone in the Aberdour festival, a week long event in late July/early August |

Aberdour, it's unforgettable! |
